The Poet's Lounge

You

You came to me unexpectedly
Turning my life upside down.
You put the beat back into a dead heart
Right from the very start.
You turned my eyes from the darkness
Full of shadows and shades of grey.
While looking deep into your eyes
I saw beauty that resides within.
Your soul shines like a bright star,
Showing just what and who you are.
You ripped away at the darkness that lies
Deep within me, and
The tenderness you show
Fills my heart with love and joy.
Tears are in my eyes...
Eyes that were once unable to cry.
Now I can see the beauty in front of me.
It will always remain a part of me.
You are so near to me and yet so far away
I cannot touch you,
Wrap my arms around you,
Or hold your soft hands in mine,
While I tenderly kiss your lips
And run my fingers through your red hair
Although our worlds are so far apart
You will always be at
The centre of my heart.
